Video of Chimney Fire Amish Residence in the 700 block of Township Rd. 462.
Ruggles Twp. Ruggles-Troy Fire Department, Firelands EMS, Savannah Volunteer Fire Department, Sullivan Fire Department, and Ashland County Sheriff's Department responded to the 700 block of Township Road 468 to a call of a house filling up with smoke.
Upon the firefighter's arrival, the smoke was coming out of within the structure, and they used a heat-source detector and found heat coming from the ceiling near the chimney within the living room area. So they had to cut a hole into the ceiling and start spraying water to put out the fire. They also checked the other part of the house to see if the fire had spread and found nothing. They managed to put out the fire quickly and save the Amish home. Ashland County Sheriff's Department assisted with traffic control. There were no injuries to the residence or firemen.
