Structure Fire in Mifflin Twp. (Ashland County, Ohio)

Mifflin Twp. (Ashland County), Ohio - Roughly around 9:50 AM Mifflin Twp. Fire Department and EMS arrived on the scene of N—North Carolina St. of a heavy smoke coming out of the structure. The occupants made it out safely of the structure, except a family pet that had to be rescued and brought outside and given oxygen for smoke inhalation. The firefighters gained entry through the back door found flames in the back on the ground level, and noticed that the fire had made its way up to the second story of the residence.

"There was one firefighter injured in the fire and was checked out, and thankfully only had non-life threatening injuries," said: Mifflin Township Fire Chief J.J. Bittinger.  Mutual Aid was provided by the Hayesville Fire Department, Perrysville Fire Department, Lucas-Monroe Fire Department, Mifflin-Richland EMS (Richland County), and Ashland County Sheriff's Department assisted on the scene, and also American Red Cross was called to assist the residence in finding a place for shelter until further notice. Also, Ohio Edison was called to the scene to cut the power to the residence.
