Former Ashland County Sheriff Deputy, Who Was Convicted Resigns.

Ashland- Former Ashland County Sheriff Deputy Cindy Benner, who served on the Ashland County Sheriff's Department for over 30 years. She was was convicted of dereliction of duty, in March of 2023, as she was originally facing four counts, but two of them were dismissed and the jury found her not guilty on the other one.



As she turned in her letter of reignition at the begging of February. Her attorney, Cassandra Mayer did file for an appeal with the court appeals in October of 2023. Her retirement came year after Benner was taken off the road enforcement as a sergeant, and got demoted to deputy, and then reassigned to the jail division. Ms. Benner has won numerous awards and citations while being with the sheriff's department, and also she served on the Ashland Bomb Squad Team.
