Car Versus Amish Buggy On CR 620 near CR 251

Jackson Twp.- Roughly around 3:34 pm Polk Fire Department and EMS, Ashland Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ashland County Sheriff's Department responded to Ashland County Road 620 near Ashland County Road 251 a 2010 White Ford Fusion driven by Brice Rush, (23) of West Salem, Ohio was heading eastbound on Ashland County Road 620 and had collided with an Amish buggy driven by Jonas Keim, (25), Of Homerville, Ohio who also was driving his buggy eastbound on Ashland County Road 620. Mr. Rush's vehicle collided with the Amish buggy and traveled off the left side the roadway and striking the ditch and rolled over onto its roof top.


Mr. Kiem's buggy traveled off the right-side of the roadway and was destroyed, and the horse continued to traveled but Mr. Keim was able to jump from the buggy. Mr Rush was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, but had to be extracted from his vehicle as it was upside down in a ditch to where he could not get out.


Mr Keims jumped from his buggy when it got hit, and he claimed no injuries but still was checked out by EMS. The horse continued on but it was located later on, and not injured.

Mr Rush was cited for Failure Unsure Clear Distance Ahead, and Mr. Keims was cited for not having proper lighting on his buggy. Other agencies assisted on scene were: Bates Towing
