Ashland Fire Department Held Its 51st. Annual Pancake Breakfast 4/20/24

Ashland - The Ashland City Fire Department held its annual 51st pancake breakfast at the Ashland City Fire Department Station #1 on Cleveland Road from 6 AM to noon. As you were walking towards the station or parked near the station you might have seen our local law enforcement parked close by, because they were there early getting their first dibs on pancakes, freshly cooked sausage, and hot coffee either just before their shift or just as just before their shift ended, or maybe some come on their day off even.

Even as you get closer you see the fire equipment sitting out in front of the stations as well to make room for everyone to sit inside of the station, but of course, so the kids and families could see them up close as well. Then as soon you get to the door of the station you can smell the pancakes, freshly cooked sausage, and freshly brewed hot coffee. As the morning went on more people started to come in the line started to form inside the station, and later lined outside. The pancakes and sausage, coffee, and other drinks were all free of course, but they were asking for complimentary donations. So people reached deeply either into purses or wallets to give to a wonderful and grateful cause.

It did not take long, and before you know it was non-stop serving pretty much until about noon. With such gratitude from everyone who came and gave a total amount of $12,375.32 also the total amount of people counted who attended was 1,061. This was a very special overwhelming day for one of the firefighters, as a sign was posted by his fellow (brotherhood of firefighters) "Cellars Last Pancake Day." Steve Cellar is retiring on May 3, 2024, after 25 years of serving the great community of Ashland City and Ashland County Ohio.

Steve Cellars showing off his flipping pancake talents lol.

Steve Cellars wanted to show that he was more capable of doing things other than fighting fires. But we want Mr. Cellars the very best in his future endeavors.

They went through roughly around 450 lbs. of sausage from Turk Brother's Meats and roughly 300 lbs. of pancake mix and other essexites. The success of the 51st. pancake breakfast without the support of various businesses that generously donated to the cause.
