The 2024 DARE County Essay Winner has been chosen! The winner, Riley Meffley, is a 5th-grade Black River Elementary School student. Riley competed against other 5th-grade students from Black River and Hillsdale, and 6th-grade from Mapleton School Districts. The essay is required to pass the Keeping It Real Dare Curriculum, but it is a fun and exciting competition.
Riley will receive a plush Daren-the DARE Mascot, a Dare backpack, and a medallion and ride with Dep. Hamilton in the Ashland Memorial Day Parade. Her parents are Nicole and Ryan Meffley.
